Lydia Maria Bader is regarded as one of the most versatile German pianists of her generation. She began her studies at the age of fifteen at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Karl-Hermann Mrongovius and Michael Schäfer, graduating with both the Artistic Diploma and the Concert Diploma.
She subsequently refined her artistic profile at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris with Michel Béroff and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with Markus Schirmer.
 

As a soloist and chamber musician, Lydia Maria Bader performs regularly throughout Europe and Asia. She has appeared at renowned festivals and has been invited abroad by German cultural institutions. For many years, she has also maintained a close artistic connection with China, where she performs regularly and was appointed Cultural Ambassador of Gansu Province in 2016.
 

A hallmark of her artistic work is the creation of distinctive thematic recital programmes, revealing lesser-known facets of the piano repertoire while placing familiar masterpieces in fresh musical contexts. Another characteristic of her performances is her engaging spoken introductions, through which she shares insights into the music and its composers, creating a direct connection with her audience.
 

This artistic approach is also reflected in her widely acclaimed recordings, ranging from Scandinavian and Baltic piano music to Chinese repertoire and her most recent album, Tales of the Sea. Her recording Chinese Dreams, nominated in two categories for the OPUS KLASSIK Award, has received international recognition.
