program:
This program spans from Johann Sebastian Bach to Franz Schubert, showcasing the unique sonic world of the piano duo in all its facets.
It begins with Bach’s chorales in finely crafted arrangements that create a serene, almost contemplative atmosphere.
From there, the journey leads via Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Fanny Hensel into the Romantic musical language, before new, dazzling colors unfold with Claude Debussy. The 20th century is also represented—for example, by György Ligeti, whose music combines rhythmic conciseness with subtle irony.
The highlight is Franz Schubert’s great Fantasy in F minor: a work of extraordinary intensity in which the expressive possibilities of four-hand piano playing are impressively concentrated. The result is a program that brings the familiar and the unfamiliar into a vibrant relationship—carried by the perfectly coordinated duo and the unique unity of two souls.
