program:
Josef Haydn: "London Trios" 1-4 (Hob.IV: 1-4)
The three so-called London Trios were probably composed during Haydn's second trip to England in 1794 and are among his most elegant occasional chamber music works. In the unusual instrumentation of flute, violin and cello (originally 2 flutes and cello), they combine courtly lightness with the melodic clarity that made Haydn so popular in London. Together, the three pieces unfold a cheerful, chamber music tableau that captures the spirit of a convivial London salon around 1800.
W.A.Mozart: Divertimenti KV 439b
Mozart wrote these divertimenti for his friend Anton Stadler (for whom he had also composed the famous Clarinet Concerto), originally for 3 basset horns. Mozart's publishers published a version for flute and 2 string instruments in 1804.
With their playful elegance, the divertimenti unfold a cheerful, almost chamber-musical salon panorama of late Baroque and early Classical Vienna.

Josef Haydn: String Quartet in E flat major op.33 no.2
